Fortunate pilot escapes major injury after Cessna owned by New Yorker crashes into Hastings cabbage patch

The Cessna made a emergency landing in a Hastings cabbage patch.

An unidentified pilot suffered minor injuries after crashing a Cessna into a Hastings cabbage patch on Saturday.

The lone occupant was forced to land the single-cab aircraft into the greenery due to an unspecified emergency.

The pilot was transported by St. Johns County Fire Rescue to a nearby hospital where he is expected to make a full recovery.

According to registration records, the Cessna was built in 1985 and is owned by a resident of Long Island, New York.

It is unknown if the owner was operating the Cessna at the time of the crash.

Florida Highway Patrol is probing the incident.

Aviation records show that the the same plane exhibited firewall damage during a routine 2012 inspection.
