Here’s the bottom line — the sparkling new HydroLight Lounge in Nocatee is one of only two places in all of Northeast Florida where you can reap the benefits of a properly purged colon.
Owner Shannon Engel, who worked in advertising in Manhattan for nearly two decades before moving to Nocatee a little more than two years ago, said she was surprised to find that colon hydrotherapy wasn’t locally available.
The treatment — cheekily named “The Spritz” on the expansive HydroLight menu — thoroughly vacates one’s vault, leading to relief from bloating, troublesome digestion and even brain fog, Engel said.
The lounge will begin offering access to its Angel of Water device beginning next month.
A small tube is inserted into the rectum and shoots up to 8 gallons of water into the large intestine while clients relax on a padded throne for roughly 45 minutes.
While a river runs through it, recipients can listen to music or watch Netflix in a cozy and private treatment room.
“It’s a machine you sit in,” Engel explained. “It’s like you’re going to the bathroom in the machine instead of the toilet. You’ll be set up by a therapist, then have the room to yourself for 45 minutes and filtered water will be flowing and releasing anything impacted in your colon.”
The therapy is just one of several unique offerings at HydroLight, located in the Nocatee Town Center. All of Engel’s services revolve around either water or light — hence the name.
Other choices include “The Negroni” for red light therapy and the “The Hot Toddy” infrared sauna.
The lounge’s ambiance is a nod to Engel’s background in nightlife, with music lyrics on mirrors and entertainment options for each guest room.
While many wellness clinics employ a clinical sterility, Engel is opting for engagement and vitality. Rather than be handed bottles of water, clients can sip on specialty mocktails as they rejuvenate.
“It’s all about giving people a way to relax and recharge that feels fun and accessible,” she said. “HydroLight Lounge is where holistic health meets happy hour, and we hope to make self-care as routine as meeting friends for drinks or brunch.”
