Flagler College is launching a splashy new initiative this fall designed to connect students with influential figures who have made a lasting cultural impact.
The History Maker in Residence program will bring nationally recognized leaders to campus for multi-day residencies that emphasize creativity, advocacy, leadership, and real-world impact, the St. Augustine school announced.
The program will debut with two prominent names: R.L. Stine, author of the bestselling Goosebumps and Fear Street series, and Erin Brockovich, the environmental activist whose legal battle inspired the Oscar-winning film bearing her name.
“This program was created to inspire our campus by bringing history makers directly into the student experience,” said Flagler College President John Delaney. “Both R.L. Stine and Erin Brockovich have influenced generations through storytelling and advocacy. We are thrilled to welcome them to Flagler.”

Stine will visit campus from October 7–9, 2025, as the first-ever History Maker in Residence.
His three-day schedule will include classroom visits, a student storytelling event, and informal conversations with students about the craft of writing, the role of fear in literature, and the development of young adult fiction.
Stine will also participate in professional development workshops for faculty and staff.
Brockovich will follow with a two-day residency from November 19–20, 2025. She will serve as the keynote speaker for the Presidential Speaker Series on November 19 and engage students and staff in discussions centered around civic leadership, environmental advocacy, and ethical decision-making.
Her visit will also include classroom talks, co-curricular programming, and staff development sessions.
Flagler plans to continue the program annually, with future residencies to feature additional voices from across the spectrum of leadership, advocacy, and innovation.
