Can St. Augustine’s Nights of Lights shine even brighter?

The annual celebration will host its first-ever holiday market this year, featuring local artists selling an assortment of gifts, crafts, art and other cheery delights.

The market will take place in the Colonial Quarter in the Old City’s Historic Downtown beginning Nov. 23 and continue through New Year’s Day.

Featuring more than 40 vendors, the bustling bazaar will be open from 3:00 to 9:00 pm Sunday through Thursday, and from 3:00 pm to 10:00 pm on Fridays and Saturdays.

The market is being organized by Cooper Island Productions, which is owned and operated by Jim Stephen, former CEO at Weber grills.

Elissa Shay, Stephen’s stepdaughter and a Cooper Island staffer, told the Jacksonville Business Journal that the event will boost interactivity during the famed Nights of Lights celebration.

“We tried to keep it really supportive to artists,” Shay told the outlet. “Especially as an artist, any opportunity I can give for more people to create their art, I love to do.”

Admission to the market at 33 St. George Street will be free.
