Authorities are investigating the death of 18-year-old Anna Kepner, a Titusville native, who passed away while aboard the Carnival Horizon cruise ship returning to Miami from the Caribbean.
Officials have not released details about the circumstances of her death, including the timing or who she was traveling with.
Carnival Cruise Line confirmed Kepner’s passing in a statement and said it is cooperating with the FBI, which responded to the incident on board.

No additional information has been disclosed. Miami FBI spokesperson James Marshall confirmed only that the office responded to the situation.
Kepner, affectionately known to her family as “Anna Banana,” was remembered as a bright, outgoing teen with a magnetic personality.
Her family described her as a “people person” who could light up a room with her smile and warmth. Known for her humor and ability to lift others’ spirits, she was a straight-A student, gymnast, and varsity cheerleader.
The teen had been preparing to graduate from high school in May and had recently pursued a path toward military service, completing the entrance test and engaging with recruiters.
A teacher at Kepner’s school, Temple Christian, wrote a heartfelt note on her passing on Facebook.
“You were a bright, kind-hearted young woman whose presence brought warmth and energy into the classroom,” she wrote. “Your curiosity, your gentle spirit, and the way you cared for those around you made a lasting impression on me and on everyone who knew you.”
Her family highlighted her dedication to helping others, energy, and kindness, calling her “the best child you could ever meet.”
Carnival Cruise Line extended condolences to Kepner’s family.
