Ex-Jaguars player and St. Johns County resident Myles Jack bonds out of jail after Texas arrest

Former NFL linebacker and St. Johns County resident Myles Jack was released from jail on a $100,000 bond Thursday, one day after police arrested him following a standoff at a North Texas residence where officers reported hearing gunshots.

According to the Frisco Police Department, officers responded around 5:40 a.m. Tuesday to a welfare concern in Denton County.

When cops arrived, they reported hearing gunshots coming from inside the residence. Police established a evacuated several nearby homes and secured the area.

During the incident, officers saw a second-story window break and a subject later identified as Jack, 30, climb out and fall to the ground, police said.

The former Jaguar was taken into custody at 7:12 a.m. and transported to a local hospital, where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries from the fall.

A search of the residence was conducted, and officers confirmed that no one else was inside, police said.

Jack was charged with discharge of a firearm, a third-degree felony, and discharge of a firearm in certain municipalities, a Class A misdemeanor.

The investigation remains ongoing.

Jack was selected by the Jacksonville Jaguars with in the second round of the 2016 NFL Draft after a standout college career at UCLA.

He spent six seasons with the team, and become a key defensive leader.

Jack, who bought a St. Johns County home in 2020, later played two seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers before announcing his retirement from professional football in 2023.
