A mini-burger chain backed by NFL legend Drew Brees is set to make its debut in St. Johns County.

Smalls Sliders, a rapidly growing brand founded in Baton Rouge, is planning a location off County Road 210, across from The Fountains at St. Johns mixed-use development.

The 800-square-foot restaurant will specialize in tiny burgers, along with waffle fries, grilled cheese sandwiches, and milkshakes.

Former New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees is an investor in the brand.

If approved, the outpost will be Smalls’ first in St. Johns County and will feature roughly a dozen parking spots and a drive-thru.

Based in Atlanta, Smalls currently operates 24 locations across 9 southern states and plans to open at least two dozen new sites in the near future.

According to its website, a three-cheeseburger slider meal with waffle fries and a drink costs $10.99, while individual sliders are priced at $2.79.

Milkshakes range in price from $5.29 for a small to $8.50 for a jumbo size.

Smalls was launched by former LSU hoops walk-on Brandon Landry, who also enlisted Brees as a backer for another concept, Walk-On’s Sports Bistreaux.

“Our founder, Brandon Landry, has always been a big fan of cheeseburger sliders,” the brand’s website states. “Their size. Their flavor. Their ability to let you eat as many as you want. And while sliders had traditionally been bar bites at sports bars, Brandon knew they could be bigger.”

A Walk-On’s location was slated for The Pavilion at Durbin Park last year but has since stalled.
