Police were called to the area in front of the Bourbon Street bar on Hypolita Street once again last week, this time after a man allegedly attacked his fiance and smashed a concerned bystander’s phone.

It marks the second serious incident outside the establishment in less than two weeks.

Earlier this month, a 59-year-old patron was arrested after allegedly fighting a bouncer and spitting on responding officers.

The man’s family contends that overzealous security initiated the confrontation and left him with him a bloodied broken nose and a concussion.

That case is still pending.

In the most recent fracas, officers were dispatched to Bourbon Street after 10 p.m. on Sep. 13 following multiple 911 calls about a fight on the sidewalk.

Witnesses reported seeing a man slam his girlfriend to the ground and said she wasn’t getting up, according to court documents.

When officers arrived, they found the couple intoxicated, papers state.

The woman, despite having a bloodied knee and red marks on her arm, insisted nothing had happened and refused to cooperate.

A bystander told police he saw the suspect throw the woman down. When he pulled out his phone to call 911, the man allegedly grabbed it and smashed it on the ground.

Other witnesses corroborated his account, police said.

The iPhone 15 was valued at more than $1,000, leading to a felony criminal mischief charge.

The suspect was also charged with misdemeanor assault.
