Is a new pilsner paradise coming to the Old City?

A traditional outdoor German restaurant and beer garden — tentatively named STA Bierhaus — has been proposed in St. Augustine, The Citizen has learned.

The project — still in its preliminary stages — has been floated for a roughly half-acre vacant parcel on Arapaho Boulevard south of the Winn-Dixie off of US 1.

The proprietors offered a brief but tantalizing description of their Deutschland dreams.

“German inspired food with a specific selection of beer,” the documents state.

According to county records, the current owners purchased the parcel for $410,000 earlier this year before submitting their application.

A site plan shows a two-story, 4,800 square foot restaurant along with ample outdoor seating and parking.

Pre-applications are considered preliminary proposals and are subject to several layers of review before moving forward.

The Citizen will update the project’s progress as it moves along.
