A perennially packed St. Augustine Mexican restaurant mini-chain is planning a new location The Citizen has learned.
Mojo’s Tacos, a popular fast-casual eatery that opened its original location on Anastasia Boulevard, has its eye on a new 80-seat restaurant in another location, according to papers filed with St. Johns County.
The locally owned brand, which has been carving the carne for almost two decades, wants to set up shop at the intersection of U.S. 1 and Watson Road, county documents show.
The proposed building would span 4,500 square feet on a cleared 1.24-acre property and include on-site parking.

NEW PRIVATE CLUB AND FINE DINING RESTAURANT COMING TO ROSCOE BOULEVARD
Situated a few blocks from the Bridge of Lions on Anastasia Island, owner Joseph Devlin’s original location has become a local institution, famed for tacos, burritos, nachos and salads.
Mojo’s has another location on Santa Maria Boulevard.
Its signature “double-decker” taco — a hard shell layered with melted cheddar inside a soft tortilla, plus lettuce and pico de gallo — gives diners a distinctive bite.

The Mojo’s menu includes fish, shrimp, chicken, beef, beans and rice, tofu, and tempeh options, along with homemade salsas.
Mojo’s opens its doors at 9:04 a.m. sharp and closes at 9:04 p.m. to keep things consistent.
The application will be reviewed by the county as the project progresses.
