Tulip is set to bloom.
The longest standing resident of the St. Johns County Animal Shelter was adopted this week six months after being dropped off at the facility — just in time for Christmas.
The shelter announced Tulip’s success story in a joyous Facebook post, along with a picture of the “sweet lady” who will now give the pooch a place to call home.
Despite her lengthy tenure without a family, the pup never lost faith, staffers wrote last month as they lobbied for someone to take her home.
“She has somehow not let it get her down,” they wrote last month. “She is still playful, good natured and has lots of energy. She still loves to run and play with both her human and dog friends. She still loves her pool.”
That optimism paid off on Thursday when Tulip was taken to her new residence.
“The staff was overjoyed to see her begin a new adventure after patiently waiting for her perfect match,” read a St. Johns County Facebook post. “Tulip went home with a loving person who instantly connected with her and is eager to shower her with love and care. It’s a heartwarming moment that left everyone at the shelter cheering for her bright future!”
