UPDATE: The Bridge of Lions has been reopened.
The City of St. Augustine announced Friday afternoon that the iconic Bridge of Lions has been closed until further notice due to high tides and unpredictable weather conditions.
Officials are urging drivers to use caution and avoid driving through standing water.
As of Friday afternoon, weather conditions in St. Augustine and particularly the downtown area remain volatile as thunderstorms are expected throughout the day.
Wet weather is forecast for early afternoon and again later in the evening, with scattered showers continuing overnight.

The National Weather Service has issued a Coastal Flood Warning in effect through 6 a.m. Sunday, along with a High Surf Advisory and a High Rip Current Risk.
These warnings apply to the beaches and coastal zones throughout Southeast and Northeast Florida.
Residents and visitors should expect large waves, dangerous swimming conditions, and localized beach erosion.
Numerous low-lying roads may become impassable due to flooding, especially in and around downtown, where drainage is limited.
