Get ready for a New York-style schmear campaign.

The famed Manhattan-born bagel chain H&H — known for splashy cameos on Seinfeld and Sex & The City — will crank up the ovens right here in St. Johns County beginning on Thursday, June 26, The Citizen has learned.

Hoping to lox up the swelling New York transplant market — and win over locals unfamiliar with its offerings — the chain scouted the Jacksonville area before launching its First Coast caper at 3735 Longleaf Pine Pkwy.

Founded in 1972 at  Broadway and 80th Street by Helmer Toro and Hector Hernandez, H&H Bagels earned national fame for its hand-rolled, boiled bagels — and pop culture cameos.

The chain started in Manhattan.

H&H rocketed into Gotham lore thanks to Seinfeld, where Kramer staged a 12-year strike from the bagel shop over a wage dispute — and their refusal to give him time off to properly celebrate Festivus.

The brand saw a surge in popularity during the pandemic, when online orders spiked by 500%, fueling plans for national expansion.

The menu features a variety of classic and specialty bagels, alongside spreads, sandwiches, smoked fish and coffee.

H&H promises an authentic New York bagel experience — one that’s kosher, preservative-free, and rooted in decades of city tradition.

Without the ill-tempered counter staff, perhaps.

  1. H&H in NYC was sold off a few years ago and their bagels haven’t been all that good since the sale. in the way back they were a must go to but not anymore. that said they might have better bagels than most of the places in St johns county

  2. Looking forward to trying H&H Bagels in Jacksonville! Their history and hand-rolled bagels sound amazing. I’ve heard about their Seinfeld fame, which makes it even more exciting. Are they planning to bring back the same quality from their NYC heyday? Can’t wait to see how they adapt to the First Coast market. Recently, I came across a program for GPT-generated text (генерация текста) in Russian. The cool part is that it runs locally on your own computer, and the output is actually unique and quite decent. By the way, I hope the content on your site isn’t AI-generated?
