A growing local church has partnered with a school development group to build a new K-8 private school on its rustic 45-acre site at 895 Palm Valley Road in Ponte Vedra.

The application outlines plans for Episcopal School of Ponte Vedra , a two-story, 82,500-square-foot academic building designed to serve students in kindergarten through eighth grade.

The proposal also includes a 5,000-square-foot future addition, allowing room for enrollment growth or expanded programming.

In addition to classroom space, the site plan calls for a track and athletic field, along with related infrastructure improvements and parking.

Of St. Francis-in-the-Field Episcopal Church’s 45 acres, the school would occupy approximately 11 acres.

The new school would be developed behind the existing church campus, which currently includes a church building and a preschool.

The committee will evaluate the project for compliance with zoning regulations, environmental standards, transportation impacts, and other criteria before determining whether it can move forward.

St. Francis in-the-Field Episcopal Church has a history on the site that dates back to the late 1980s.

According to the church’s website, it was founded by J.T. McCormick and the Reverend James Cooper, who was then the rector of Christ Church in Ponte Vedra Beach.

They aimed to establish a house of worship on a wooded tract in what was then a largely rural area, anticipating future residential growth.
