You’ll soon be able to quaff a lot more than coffee.

Bushranger Brewing, a collaboration between Matt Hooker of Old Coast Ales and the Kookaburra family, is coming to the popular coffee chain’s St. Augustine site along the 207 corridor.

The project will add a brewery, warehouse, and a kitchen with a pizza oven to Kookaburra’s existing facility.

“This project is in cooperation with the Kookaburra family,” Hooker said. “Kind of a joint venture.”

The coffee brand roasts for all of its popular locations at the outpost and the partnership grew out of conversations about opening a brewery together.

The new concept, Hooker said, t will produce primarily lower- to mid-alcohol British-style ales and feature a taproom with a pizza oven.

Hooker highlighted the location’s convenience in what he said is an underserved area of St. Augustine.

“You’re close to everything,” he said. “You won’t have to cross bridges or go downtown.”

Echoing Kookaburra’s Aussie auspices, the Bushranger comes from Australian outlaws.

“It seemed to fit,” Hooker said.

The project has been in the works for about two years, and remains under review.

No tentative opening date has been set.

Founded in 2012, Kookaburra currently has 8 locations plus an outpost at the St. Augustine Amphitheater.

The brand serves specialty espresso drinks and Aussie-inspired food.
