The man was arrested in a short term rental along AIA.

He bypassed the whole signup and payment portion of the Airbnb process.

A 25-year-old man was arrested last week in St. Johns County after being caught inside a short term rental home without permission.

The incident occurred last Thursday at a residence on A1A South in St. Augustine, according to an arrest report.

The suspect allegedly entered the home through an unlocked second-story sliding glass door.

At the time, the residence was unoccupied and operating as a short-term rental.

A neighbor reportedly spotted a bicycle on the back porch around 4 p.m. and immediately contacted the homeowner.

Concerned that someone was inside, the neighbor went to the second-story door and found Blankenship luxuriating in the master bedroom.

The neighbor held him in place until deputies from the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office arrived on the scene.

Blankenship told deputies that he had entered through an open door and was “just relaxing” inside the property.

The man reportedly took a bath, leaving dirt and sand in the tub, and used a set of bed sheets.

The homeowner told deputies that the property was between guests for an Airbnb rental.

The man was charged with burglary and theft, arrested without incident, and transported to the county jail.
