Selim Algar is a veteran journalist who served as Florida bureau chief for the New York Post before launching The St. Johns Citizen. Over his 20-year career, he has chronicled a spectrum of New York City figures, from mobsters to mayors.
Before moving to Florida, Selim covered the New York City Department of Education and the Eastern District federal court in Brooklyn. Born and raised in Berkeley, California, he earned a B.A. in political science from his hometown university and later received a master’s degree from the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism.
He is the co-author of the nonfiction book “At Any Cost: A Father’s Betrayal, a Wife’s Murder, and a Ten-Year War for Justice,” published by St. Martin’s Press.
His work has appeared in The New York Times, New York Magazine, NBC Sports, The Austin American-Statesman, and The San Francisco Examiner. He has also been a featured expert on NBC News, CNN, and Fox News.
