The tomahawk landed in Ponte Vedra on Friday night.
Florida State head coach Mike Norvell made a surprise appearance at the high-stakes Nease–St. Augustine clash, then drove headlines after the whistle—offering 4-star Panther linebacker Jacob Curry a scholarship in person.
Norvell’s presence amped up the wattage at an already electric St. Johns County showdown, which ended in a thrilling 28–24 win for the visiting Yellow Jackets.
The battle of unbeatens drew a raucous crowd, and Norvell was front and center to take it all in, watching intently as the action unfolded.

While the Seminoles’ head man was scouting talent on both sidelines, it was Curry who earned the postgame bid—and the moment quickly lit up social media.
“Blessed to earn an offer from Florida State University,” Curry posted on X shortly after the game. “Thank you @Coach_Norvell for coming to watch Nease play tonight. I’m grateful for the opportunity.”
Curry, a former Northwestern commit, has been one of the most heavily recruited defenders in Northeast Florida.
The 6-foot-2, 215-pound linebacker has drawn a flurry of Power 5 offers in recent weeks, including a beckon from Ohio State, the nation’s top ranked squad.
Norvell has upped his recruiting presence in the Jacksonville area. Friday’s appearance followed an earlier visit to the Mandarin–IMG Academy game earlier in the evening.
