Multiple people were injured after a shooter opened fire Thursday on the campus of Florida State University in Tallahassee, according to reports.
The shots exploded near the campus student union as school officials instructed all those in the vicinity to seek shelter.
“Lock and stay away from all doors and windows and be prepared to take additional protective measures,” the university posted on X.
The school later posted that the shooter had been apprehended and that the situation had been brought under control.
Several videos apparently showing gravely injured students are circulating on social media. The Citizen will not repost them.
The number of those injured and their condition has not been released.
Gov. Ron DeSantis addressed the unfolding incident on X, writing, “Our prayers are with our FSU family and state law enforcement is actively responding.”
President Donald Trump has been briefed on the situation.
