The University of North Florida this fall welcomed the largest incoming freshman class in its history, enrolling about 3,170 new Ospreys across full-time and part-time programs — a marked 66% increase from last year.

The new campus arrivals include 76 student-athletes, with students hail from across Florida, 41 states and eight countries.

The school said UNF’s pre-health major is the most popular among the incoming class, followed by biomedical science, business management, psychology and kinesiology.

Enrollment is spread across colleges with 36% in the College of Arts and Sciences, 22% in the Brooks College of Health, 16% in the Coggin College of Business, 16% in the College of Engineering and Construction and 6% in the Silverfield College of Education and Human Services.

Officials touted the academic profile of the freshman class, which had an average high school GPA of 3.96, SAT score of 1125 and ACT score of 22.

Total enrollment at UNF has climbed to roughly 17,600 students, the highest in the school’s history.

Sophomore retention inched up to 86.4%, surpassing last year’s record.

UNF said 85.8% of students are maintaining a GPA of 2.0 or higher.

The school highlighted the addition of more than 50 new faculty members, and new and expanded degree programs.

The university is also dedicating funds to new residence halls and renovations to existing buildings.
