After a seven-month investigation, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of Logan Fletcher Park, 24, in connection with a tragic fatal crash that killed a local teacher and his young son.

The incident occurred on May 16, 2025, around 8:30 p.m., when Mitchell Patch, a math teacher at Bayview Elementary School, and his son Everett were crossing Baymeadows Road.

According to police, a Honda Civic driven by Park struck the pair. Jacksonville Fire and Rescue pronounced both victims dead at the scene.

Man, wife and young son.
Patch was an elementary school math teacher.

Following the crash, Park was taken to a hospital where his blood alcohol level was tested.

Results showed a BAC of 0.107, exceeding Florida’s limit of 0.08. After months of investigation, conducted jointly with the State Attorney’s Office, authorities obtained a warrant for Park’s arrest.

On Sunday, Park turned himself in to police and was \charged with two counts of DUI Manslaughter. He is scheduled to make his first court appearance on Wednesday, December 3.

The deaths of Mitchell and Everett Patch devastated the Bayview Elementary community, where colleagues and students remembered Mitchell as a dedicated educator and caring father.

A GoFundMe set up for Patch’s wife raised more than $150,000 in the wake of the crash.
