A felon on probation was arrested in St. Johns County last week after allegedly pointing a pistol at his girlfriend during an argument, then leading an off-duty deputy on a pursuit that damaged several vehicles, according to an arrest report.

David Jordan Lucas Black, 21, was taken into custody Nov. 5 after the incident along State Road 207 and Holmes Boulevard in St. Augustine.

An off-duty St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office deputy was in a marked patrol vehicle when the victim ran up to her window and said Black had just pointed a gun at her and had multiple firearms in the car, the report states.

The woman told deputies she had picked Black up from work and allowed him to use her vehicle. While driving, an argument broke out over her alleged infidelity.

During the dispute, Black allegedly produced an AR-style pistol, pointed it at her and threatened to kill her.

The woman told deputies she feared for her life and jumped out of the car when she saw the deputy.

She also said Black — who had a lengthy criminal history out of Duval County, has access to guns and has previously strangled her, according to a domestic violence assessment in the report.

The deputy attempted to detain Black by having him pull in front of her vehicle, but he instead sped off west on SR-207, then north on Holmes Boulevard, deputies wrote.

During the chase, Black allegedly smashed into several vehicles, drove into oncoming traffic, nearly struck a bicyclist and reached speeds of 70 mph in a 40 mph zone.

Black was eventually stopped near the intersection of Everett and Arenta streets, handcuffed and arrested.

Deputies said they found the AR-style pistol in plain view inside the vehicle, a second handgun and a small bag of suspected marijuana on him.

Black, who has prior felony convictions and is on active probation out of Duval County for firearm-related offenses, faces charges including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, aggravated fleeing and eluding with injury or damage, two counts of hit-and-run involving property damage, two counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition by a convicted felon, marijuana possession under 20 grams and violation of probation.

He was medically cleared at Flagler Hospital and booked into the St. Johns County Jail without bond.
