Amelia Island, Florida, has been named the No. 4 “Top Island in the U.S.” by Condé Nast Traveler in its 2024 Reader’s Choice Awards, marking the only Florida destination to make the list.

Other notable locations in the top five include Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, which claimed first place, and two Hawaiian favorites, Maui and Oahu.

Over 575,000 readers of the travel magazine submitted votes, rating their favorite travel destinations and experiences.

The annual Reader’s Choice Awards, known for being the longest-running and most esteemed honors in the travel industry, offer a snapshot of the top destinations travelers are eager to return to.

Gil Langley, president of the Amelia Island Convention & Visitors Bureau, expressed his gratitude for the recognition.

“We are deeply honored to once again be voted among the best islands in the United States by the well-traveled readers of such a prestigious travel magazine,” Langley said in a press release. “This recognition reflects the passion of everyone who lives and works here to create an unforgettable experience for visitors. We extend our heartfelt thanks to all who voted and invite both new and returning guests to come discover why Amelia Island is a perennial favorite for so many travelers.”

Amelia Island’s highly rated resorts were also spotlighted in the awards. The Omni Amelia Island Resort ranked No. 4 among the “Best Resorts in Florida,” while The Ritz-Carlton, Amelia Island, secured the No. 14 spot in the same category.

The Northeast Florida destination is a barrier island known for miles of pristine beaches, championship golf courses and the historic town of Fernandina Beach.

The complete list of 2024 Readers’ Choice Award winners is available on the Condé Nast Traveler website and will be featured in the magazine’s upcoming November issue.
