A Lake City man allegedly led St. Johns County deputies on a high-speed chase that began in Nocatee before being taken into custody, according to arrest records.
Deputies had been alerted to James Chadwick, 30, after the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office reported he had stolen a Ford F-250 truck.
A deputy turned on their lights and sirens at Nocatee Parkway and Crosswater Parkway in the early morning hours of Sept. 11 and attempted a traffic stop, papers state.
Chadwick allegedly refused to pull over and hit the gas, leading deputies on a pursuit that ended about 10 miles away at County Road 210 and Foxcraft Street in St. Augustine where he got out of the car and ran.
He then fled on foot before being found hiding in a home under construction on Foxcraft Street, according to the report.
Chadwick was charged with fleeing law enforcement at high speed, a felony, along with driving without a valid license and resisting an officer without violence, both misdemeanors.
Bond was set at $9,000 on the three charges.
His case is pending.
