This Yellow Jacket star is creating a buzz once again.

Former St. Augustine High School standout Austin Reed made a resounding statement in his professional spring football debut, delivering a record-setting performance Saturday.

Starting for the Dallas Renegades, Reed showcased poise and command from the opening drive, dicing up the Houston Gamblers defense and lighting up the scoreboard.

Reed completed 27 of 40 passes for 376 yards and threw for three touchdowns, finishing with a stellar 120.4 passer rating.

The passing yards set a new UFL single-game record.

After starring for the Yellow Jackets, Reed went on to shine at Western Kentucky, where he became one of the most productive passers in college football.

Despite going undrafted, Reed earned an opportunity with the Chicago Bears – and produced a viral clip while being featured on HBO’s “Hard Knocks.”

Reed secured a spot on the Bears practice squad for the 2024 season but was not brought back the following year.

The St. Augustine native is hoping that continued success in the UFL could forge a path back to the NFL.

The UFL is a professional spring football league that began play in 2024 after the merger of the XFL and USFL.

The organization consists of eight teams and a 43‑game schedule with national TV coverage.
