A heated reaction by an adult to losing an online video game against a minor prompted a law enforcement response last week, according to the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office.

The incident began when the adult became angry over the outcome of a game and made comments threatening harm at a school.

Tips were reported from several states outside of Putnam County, leading local detectives to act quickly to locate the vanquished gamer.

Law enforcement officials confirmed that the adult lived in Putnam County. A visit revealed that they had access no firearms.

As a precaution, Putnam County Sheriff Gator DeLoach beefed up law enforcement personnel at local schools the following day.

Officials reminded parents to monitor the games their children play and who they play with, and urged adults to act appropriately when interacting with minors online.
