Jacksonville Sheriff T.K. Waters took a walking tour of several neighborhoods Saturday — including a fact-finding stroll along the Cypress Trails in Nocatee.

The veteran lawman acknowledged that his department is largely focused on other areas of River City, but assured residents that Nocatee and St. Johns County were on his radar.

“I like to tell everyone… that we haven’t forgotten. We know where they sit on the map. And you know, we spend a lot of time closer toward town, but we want to make sure we extend, because everybody’s thoughts and concerns are very important to us. So, we wanted to come out,” Waters told reporters.

A handful of Nocatee residents aired their primary concerns to Waters, including speeding cars, congestion and parking on sidewalks.

Accustomed to more serious criminal activity, Waters offered a succinct assessment of the growing planned community.

“Great neighborhood. Very few complaints.”
