After a fiercely contested election to name their new venture, the owners of the former Kings Head British Pub have a winner: The Wobbly Whale.

Hoping to generate a communal vibe from the start, Sean and Ashley Hassan decided to field suggestions on their Instagram account.

They whittled the list down to a handful of contenders and put the matter in the hands of the people.

The winning choice for the pilsner paradise, the Jax born and bred owners said, is “fun, welcoming, with a coastal feel.”

“We’ve receive an outpouring of love from the community,” Ashley told The Citizen. “People are excited.”

The Hassans — who are part of a larger ownership group — are hard at work renovating the property and hope to open in a matter of months.

They’re keeping much of the renovation work in the family, with Sean’s brother’s company, Red Stag, shoring up the building’s roof.

The Wobbly Whale will feature a a wide array of European and domestic beers, and hopes to take advantage of the rustic setting with plenty of outdoor seating.

Food items will also be on the menu, along with a play area for kids and a dog-friendly policy.
