Forget the halftime performance — little DeLee Parker has already stolen the show.
The button-cute St. Johns County 5-year-old appears in a touching Super Bowl ad featuring her family’s nearly century-old potato farm.
The 60-second spot for Lay’s — which will be viewed by well over 100 million people — shows a young actress diligently nurturing a tiny potato on a picturesque farm.
Rain or shine, the budding farmer carefully tends to her little creation, even camping out overnight to keep watch over it and crafting a miniature scarecrow to keep the critters away.
To her delight, her hard work pays off — and she digs out a plump golden spud while wearing a smile.
Parker herself appears in a photo that flashes on the screen towards the end of the commercial, holding a pair of potatoes.
“Lay’s are made from real potatoes, and our potatoes come from real farmers,” reads the ad’s tagline.
The commercial — called The Little Farmer — will air during the third quarter of the game between the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles.
Two other local farming families are also pictured in the spot — Wesley Smith of Smith Farms, Steve Singleton, his wife April, and their three sons.
“For generations, our local farmers have grown agriculture in St. Johns County, and on Sunday, this heart-warming commercial will bring the world’s attention to the responsible farming happening in our community,” said St. Johns County Board of Commissioners Chair Krista Joseph.
DeLee’s dad said he’s hopeful that his precocious daughter will extend his family’s legacy in the soil.
“Our family is happy and honored to be chosen by Frito-Lay to be in this commercial,” he said. “Our farm has contracted with them to provide quality potatoes since 1964. Our family has been farming in St. Johns County since 1937. We are proud fourth-generation farmers, and DeLee will carry on that tradition.”

Let’s just hope we can stop the deep pockets that want to build on every inch of open land here. Because THIS is what we need MORE of. Congratulations young lady. I am very proud of you!
