The St. Johns County Ocean and Fishing pier in St. Augustine Beach reopened on Sunday — along with a resumption of access fees.

The pier was shuttered in August 2024 to allow the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to complete a shoreline restoration.

The last 100 feet of the pier remain inaccessible until further notice.

On a Facebook post announcing the reopening, some anglers noted that much of the pier spans more sand that water — and that fishing could be a challenge for the time being.

But county officials said high tide should still provide local fishing enthusiasts with plenty of opportunities to get their lines tugged.

“We live in the beautiful state of Florida the beautiful city of Saint Augustine Beach and having people come back to the pier and being able to fish is just more tourism, which is what we need right now,” St. Augustine Beach Mayor Dylan Rumrell told Action Jax.

The pier sits on a scenic four-acre public park which includes a gift shop and a farmers market every Wednesday from 8 a.m. to noon
