The Talbots store at St. Johns Town Center is shuttering at the end of this month to make way for luxury retailer Marc Jacobs, according to a report.
Talbots has consolidated it’s inventory into half the sprawling 6,269-square-foot store and much of the remaining clothing is discounted by 50%, the Jacksonville Daily Record reported.
The women’s clothing store has several other locations in the region.
JRM Construction Management is handling the $185,000 build-out for the 2,786-square-foot Marc Jacobs store at 4812 River City Drive, Unit 119.
It’s unclear whether Marc Jacobs, which is on a block between Lilly Pulitzer and Tommy Bahamas, will occupy the entire vacated space or share it with another tenant, the outlet reported.
Marc Jacobs, which is headquartered in New York City, sells clothing, handbags, shoes and other accessories. It is best known for its signature tote bags.
Site plans indicate that the in-progress shop will focus on handbags and accessories, according to the report.
Marc Jacobs operates four boutique stores in Florida, including in Miami, Aventura and Boca Raton.
The company also has four outlet stores in the Sunshine State.
