The vaunted Crave Cookie chain — which will soon open its first northeast Florida store right here in St. Johns County — promises customers a “New York style” variant of the classic confection.
Truth be told, The Citizen had never heard of a cookie style specific to the Empire State, and conducted an informal poll of native New Yorkers from Brooklyn to upstate in search of answers — to no avail.
But some quick online research revealed the following — the New York cookie is apparently oversized with a gooey interior and somewhat crispy shell.
Now you know.
Rapidly expanding Crave, which has 37 locations across the country, has been approved to open at 3735 Longleaf Parkway at The Shoppes of Aberdeen south of Racetrack Road.
“Crafted with top-tier ingredients that would make even the snobbiest food critics nod in approval, our cookies are a testament to obsessive craftsmanship,” the brand states on its website.
Rather than trot out time-honored by somewhat monotonous traditional flavors, the brand touts its innovative creations ranging from a croissant-cookie fusion to a union of red velvet cake and a classic Oreo.
A new rotating lineup of five flavors are introduced every Friday to keep customers guessing.
Cookies are sold individually, in a “Crave Pack” of four, and by six or a dozen.
“Our New York-style cookies are not just baked; they’re crafted for moments of awe, size, and a flavor twist that leaves ordinary in the dust,” Crave crows.
