High end supermarket chain opening first St. Johns County location next month

Hail the kale.

Sprouts, a high end organic supermarket chain, is taking root in St. Johns County.

The chain will open the doors of a new location at the Shoppes of St. Johns County off of County Road 210 on Jan. 31, the company said in a press release.

The 23,975-square-foot store will feature a wide range of healthful comestibles, including produce, meats and a variety of other goods.

The store at 120 Shops Blvd. will be the the chain’s third in Northeast Florida and 48th in the state.

Sprouts describes itself as “a unique grocery experience featuring an open layout with fresh produce at the heart of the store.”

The Phoenix-based brand has more than 400 outposts in 24 states.

The St. Johns location will employ 83 full- and part-time workers, and interested applicants can visit sprouts.com/careers to apply.
