Caylen Deller was indicted Monday for allegedly shooting Florida father-of-two Chad Mullen dead in September before she and a friend buried his body on a Federal Point farm.

The drug-addled equestrian is now facing charges of first-degree murder, tampering with physical evidence, and failure to report a death.

Mullen, of Satsuma, was last heard from on Sept. 9 and formally reported missing to police on Sept.15.

His body was discovered buried on a farm on Oct. 28.

“The remains were tied up with various types of cordage and ratchet straps, including what appeared to be a lasso rope,” according to a probable cause affidavit.

Deller and Mullen dated for roughly a year, a relationship friends and family described as highly volatile.

“While this will not bring Chad back, we are one step closer to ensuring Caylen Deller does not receive another day of freedom,” the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office wrote in a Facebook post.

Deller, 30, allegedly shot Mullen near her horse farm, Stormy Stables, and enlisted friend Tina Marie Lee-Ellis to help her move his body to another location.

Deller’s ex-boyfriend, Ken Wadell, told The Citizen that she confessed to killing Mullen, admitting she used a horse to drag his body to Lee-Ellis’ SUV.

Deller denied any role in Mullen’s demise in an interview with The Citizen.

“I don’t know anything about it,” she said on Oct. 31 outside an unrelated court appearance after the discovery of his remains. “But I’m glad that his mother might have some peace and closure now.”

Lee-Ellis was also arrested and is facing charges of accessory to first-degree murder after the fact for allegedly helping Deller dispose of Mullen’s body.

If convicted, Deller faces the death penalty.

  1. How can someone look in the eyes of a person you just shot and fire another round?? That’s pure evil and the man lost his young life and his family suffers from his loss. There’s no excuse at all for this senseless act. I really hope she sits her days behind bars for life!!
