Igloos in Florida sound a bit like beach chairs in Chicago.
But with temperatures set to dip in the northern part of the Sunshine State in the coming months, an Amelia Island hotel is offering a unique form of shelter from the nip.
For a limited time, the Omni is offering all hotel guests use of beach “igloos,” where residents can gather in warmth under a domed shell as waves crash nearby.
“Gather around a crackling beach fire, prepared just for you, and listen to the song of the waves at sunset,” the hotel said in unveiling the attraction.
“Snack on a chef-curated spread of local charcuterie, festive s’mores and warming holiday punch while you snuggle up and let the world beyond the firelight fade away,” the luxury resort announced.
The igloos will be available from now through January 1.
The temporary amenity is subject to availability and must be booked at least three days in advance.
The Omni said there’s a six eskimo limit for each igloo.
