Nease sophomore Advait Nair achieved National Master status with the US Chess Federation.

He’s Nease’s knight in shining armor.

Advait Nair, a sophomore in the school’s prestigious International Baccalaureate program, has achieved the lofty title of National Master from the US Chess Federation, the St. Johns County School District announced.

Only a minuscule number of board barons — less than 1% — earn the highly respected ranking from the body, officials said.

“With a rating of 2200, Advait is the first student in the SJSCD to reach this incredible milestone,” the district noted in a celebratory statement.

Advait was the National Champion in the 16 and under category at the National Junior Chess Congress held in Orlando over the summer, the school announced in July.
