The gilded Ponte Vedra Inn & Club wants permission to build out a Tiki Bar and dedicated food truck space to keep members occupied during major upcoming renovations, The Citizen has learned.

The posh property — where initiation fees have climbed to $120,000 amid unrelenting demand — hopes to carve out “a 520 square foot open air Tiki Bar, expanded driveway to accommodate food trucks for daily operation, and an outdoor paver patio with movable seating and furniture.”

The amenities, representatives wrote in application papers, will “serve as a gathering space for members while major campus renovations take place.”

The Gate-owned property has received approvals for a comprehensive revamp, including a renovation of the Surf Club, along with a new sports facility with tennis courts and a pool.

Subsequent improvements — which could extend for 25 years — could add 100,000 total square feet to the Inn & Club and 35,000 square feet to The Lodge & Club.

Established in 1928, PVIC is considered the premier beach club along Ponte Vedra Boulevard — and demand has spiked accordingly.

Wait lists for the oceanfront North Florida jewel extend well beyond a year.
