Summer grilling season may sadly behind us, but help is on the way.
Manhattan-born burger behemoth Shake Shack is opening its first Jacksonville location next week in St. Johns Town Center, the company announced.
The patties will start flipping and the fries frying at 11 a.m. sharp at 10281 Midtown Parkway, Unit 101.
Famed for its burgers, hot dogs, crinkle-cut fries, shakes and frozen custards, the brand has 21 existing locations in Florida and more than 500 outposts around the world.
The Town Center restaurant will open at 11 a.m. every day and close at 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday nights.
In addition to burgers, Shake Shack offers chicken sandwiches, grilled cheese, and veggie alternatives. The Jacksonville location will also serve beer and wine.
The now ubiquitous chain had humble beginnings, hatching from a single hot dog stand in Manhattan’s once derelict Madison Square Park.
With New Yorkers lining up for the succulent franks, the stand eventually became a permanent kiosk in 2004 and expanded from there.
Shake Shack’s first location outside Gotham opened in Miami Beach in 2010.
Burgers run between $8.99 an d $12.49 depending on toppings.
Fries run between $5.19 and $7.89, with cheese and other options upping the cost.
