A fugitive Florida teen wanted for shooting a Walden Chase man during a botched drug deal in July was arrested Monday morning in California, according to the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office.

Nashon White, 17, and Jeffrey Davis, 21, both of Jacksonville, allegedly trekked out to the subdivision in a Honda Civic to purchase pot from a resident of the community, according to court papers.

The parties met in the parking lot of the community pool and the would be seller, a former Nease High School student, got into the back of their vehicle with White in the passenger seat and Davis in the driver’s seat.

White handed bills to the victim for the drugs, but the seller suspected that it was “movie money” — a slang term for counterfeit cash — and an argument erupted, papers state.

White then allegedly pulled out a gun and shot the Walden Chase resident three times. He was rushed to a nearby trauma center and underwent “lifesaving” treatment for injuries to his intestines and buttocks.

The following day, detectives found the Black Civic parked at an undisclosed business and being operated by a relative of Davis.

The family member took deputies to Davis’ home where he was placed under arrest.

Investigators learned that White had likely fled to California, and he was taken into custody there Monday morning by the United States Marshal Service Fugitive Task Force.

White has been charged with aggravated battery with a firearm and attempted robbery with a firearm and will be transferred back to Florida.

Davis was released on $100,000 and is also facing a slew of charges in the case.
