Longtime ESPN College Gameday broadcaster Rece Davis — a Ponte Vedra Beach resident — picked the Clemson Tigers as his favorite to emerge from the ACC this season.

The Alabama-born Floridian, host of the iconic program for nearly a decade, said on Instagram that he expected Clemson to qualify for this year’s newly expanded 12-team playoff tournament.

“Reports of their demise have been greatly exaggerated,” Davis said.

The affable Ponte Vedran, who can be seen out and about in his adopted home when he’s not calling collegiate sports, said Florida State will best the Tigers in their regular season October matchup in Tallahassee.

But he tapped the Tigers in a conference championship showdown.

“The rematch — two really good teams — Clemson wins the rematch,” he said. “Because Clemson will be desperate.”

But spare Rece your wrath, ‘Nole Nation.

He also picked FSU to advance to the championship bracket.
