An 11-year-old St. Johns boy is in stable condition after an accidental shooting Tuesday evening, officials said.
The child and another 13-year-old boy were shooting a firearm in a wooded area in St. Augustine Beach off of Pope Road when a bullet shot by the teen ricocheted off a target and struck his friend.
The boy was transported by ambulance to a local hospital in stable condition and is recovering.
No additional details were available as of Wednesday morning.
The St. Augustine Police Department is handling the case and their probe is continuing.
No charges have been filed.
We will update this story if specifics emerge.

Please update this story. Where did they get the firearm? Who is being held accountable? I find it hard to believe the two made the weapon by hand. If it was a parent who owned it, are there charges filed?
