A 55-year-old man was killed and two others, including a 100-year-old woman, were seriously injured in a three-vehicle crash on Amelia Island Thursday, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred on Amelia Island Parkway and shut down the roadway for several hours. The road was reopened around 6 p.m.
Troopers said the crash began when a dump truck driven by a 55-year-old man from Lebanon, Indiana, collided head-on with a pickup truck operated by an 84-year-old man.
The cause of the collision remains under investigation, and authorities have not said what led the two vehicles to crash.

The force of the impact caused the dump truck to overturn. A sedan driven by the 100-year-old woman then struck the overturned dump truck.
Nassau County Fire Rescue responded to the scene where the dump truck driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
The 84-year-old man sustained critical injuries and was transported for medical treatment.
The 100-year-old woman’s injuries were described as serious by FHP.
Authorities have not yet released the names of the people involved in the crash. No charges have been filed at this time.
Florida Highway Patrol said the investigation remains active and ongoing.
